Drug Class Mechanism
Generic Ampicillin is part of the penicillin family of antibiotics and is different from penicillin only because of an existing amino group present in its makeup. This amino group aids the medication in breaching the external membrane of gram-negative bacteria. Generic Ampicillin also acts as an enzyme inhibitor blocking the enzyme that bacteria require to develop the walls of their cells, it effectively thwarts the third stage of cell wall development leading to the death and destruction of the bacteria.
How Taken
Take Ampicillin by mouth at least one-half hour before or 2 hours after eating. Take Ampicillin with a full glass of water (8 oz/240 mL). Take Ampicillin on a regular schedule to get the most benefit from it
